Sidewalk Suites

No Hotels? No Problem — Sidewalk Suites 🌙

People ask me, “MarkyMark, where the hell do you sleep on those rides?
Well… wherever gravity gives up and the asphalt looks relatively soft, and when the clouds start to talk back to ya! Yep pull over!
Take Erie, PA — it’s midnight, raining sideways, huge storm front in my direction. I’m on a tight schedule I know I need to pull a bun burner gold that evening (that’s 1500 miles under 24 hours), so I find a nice dry corner next to a closed up grocery store l wall, unroll my luxury foam mat (a.k.a. glorified egg carton), and boom — instant suite! The concierge? A raccoon. The room service? Whatever snacks I had in my saddlebag (camp stove noodles and protein). The IBA/Hoka Hey 5-star hotel.

Then there’s Brewer, ME, where I turned the parking lot into a full-service garage. Midnight wrenching under a streetlight, tools everywhere, flashlight in my teeth, cussing at bolts that refused to cooperate. Fixed the bike, wiped my hands, and thought, “You know what? This curb’s got potential.” I put together my camp chair and laid my foam mat on top plugged in my heated jacket into my auxiliary battery and Slept like a rock for 3 hours.
No hotels, no problem. I’ve napped at gas stations, truck stops, rest areas, shed depots, sporting good lots, car wash bays in the heart of a storm, and probably a few places I wasn’t supposed to. Who needs a Hilton, well of course there are times you might just have too.
Because out here, the Wolf doesn’t need a reservation…He just parks, unrolls, and calls it “camping with benefits.” 🐺💤💪
