MONSTER 79 HERO COIN FOUND — (JAXSON) AT THE END OF THE ROAD! 🏍️🌊

Well, Alex and Nichole went digging again! 😂

This time they tracked down another one of my Monster 79 Hero Coins — Jaxson — hidden beneath a rock on the edge of the cliffs at Meat Cove, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. And when I say I put this one out there on purpose… I put this one OUT THERE.

A few miles of dirt and gravel road, hairpins, steep hillsides and a few guardrails that’ll make a motorcycle rider question exactly how much faith they have in Canadian engineering 😂 — and then suddenly the road opens up. And holy crap. Ocean. Mountains. Cliffs. Nothing but wild Cape Breton stretching out in front of you.

Officially, the final 8 kilometres into Meat Cove are unpaved, and road conditions can vary. Meat Cove is Cape Breton’s northernmost community, and the road essentially ends there. It’s one of those places where getting there is part of the story.

Meat Cove, the name has a story.

Local history traces “Meat Cove” back to the late 1700s, with a tradition that moose were butchered in the area and the smell was strong enough to draw complaints from ships passing offshore. Its Scottish Gaelic name, Camas na Feòla, likewise means roughly “cove of the meat.” The precise origin has variations in the historical telling, but hunting and the processing of game are at the center of the local tradition.

Today it’s still wonderfully remote. The campground sits right on the cliffs, with hiking trails heading farther into the rugged northern coastline. Eagles can be seen overhead, and whales sometimes pass through the surrounding waters.  For a motorcycle rider doing the Cabot Trail, don’t skip the turn toward Meat Cove.

The pavement disappearing is exactly when things start getting interesting.

🪙 Why I Left Jaxson’s Coin Here

I purposely tucked his coin beneath a rock near that cliff’s edge.I loved the thought of it sitting there after I rode away.

Quiet.

Watching over the Cove.

Catching sunrises and sunsets that most of us will never see. Storms rolling across the water. Fog lifting from the cliffs. Motorcycles coming down that dirt road. Campfires burning at night. Thousands of miles of sky and ocean passing in front of it…

Just waiting for the right pirates to come along, dig it up and carry its story forward. 🏴‍☠️🪙

That’s what these Monster 79 coins have always been about. Not just coordinates. Not just finding a piece of metal.

Find the coin. Learn about the kid whose name is on it. Explore the place where it was hidden. Then share their story. And this particular coin means a lot to me.

❤️ Jaxson #33 — “Tunez”

Jaxson will always have a special place in my heart because he was the first of my Mile Monsters heroes I got to meet.

I’ll never forget it.

When we met, Jax gave me this huge hug. Then he wanted to tell me all about his day. He wanted to get his feet wet in the river. He wanted to go fishing. Just a cool little dude wanting to do cool little dude things.

I told him someday we’re going fishing, and I’ll bring my son along to help us out. That day will come, Jax.

He’s the youngest of the boys and we call him “Tunez” because this kid LOVES his music. Give him control of the radio and he’ll crank it. Put him around a motorcycle and he’d probably twist that throttle straight to redline if you let him. 😂

Tell him “Not today” and you’ll get that look… Why not?! 🤨😂 That’s Jaxson.

A little personality, a lot of music and one big heart.

So there was something fitting about leaving his coin way up there at Meat Cove — in a wild place where the road finally runs out, but the horizon keeps going. And Jax… your coin has finally been found. ❤️🪙

Even better, it was found by Alex and Nichole — two of the nicest people I’ve met, they are down to earth, two people who truly know how to LIVE life, and a couple of the most badass riders I know.

They went looking.

They climbed around those rocks.

They dug.

And eventually…Found it.

That’s exactly what I hoped would happen when I hid these things. Someone goes on an adventure to find it. They discover an incredible place. They learn about one of our heroes.

And somewhere along the way, people who may never have met become connected by a little kid’s story.

That’s the treasure.

mission accomplished, little buddy.

Your coin kept watch over the cliffs of Meat Cove. Now it’s coming home. ❤️🪙🇺🇸 and the story keeps traveling. 🐺🏍️🏴‍☠️
