Alex and Nichole strike AGAIN! 😂 On their journey back toward home, these two treasure-hunting maniacs made their way into Acadia National Park and added Coin #165 from my Hunt the East of the Mississippi River Challenge to their growing pile of loot.

But this one wasn’t exactly a straight shot. They put in a few miles looping around Acadia, passing the beaches, incredible overlooks, beaver ponds and the famous Thunder Hole before eventually making their way back toward the visitor center. Basically, most people tour Acadia thinking, “Wow, look at that coastline!” These two are apparently thinking, “Yeah, yeah…beautiful. WHERE DID MARK HIDE THE GOLD?” 😂🪙

And Acadia certainly gives you plenty to look at. Park Loop Road winds through some of the park’s most famous scenery, connecting rocky coastline, forests, mountains and places like Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. At Thunder Hole, under the right conditions, waves force air and water into a narrow rocky inlet and create the booming sound that gives the spot its name. Pretty cool stuff…although apparently not loud enough to distract Alex and Nichole from the treasure hunt.

What makes #165 even funnier is that fellow geo-hunter Susan Miller had just been through there herself and gave it one hell of a shot. Road construction, tourists everywhere, peak-season traffic and the general circus that Acadia can become when everybody and their grandmother decides, “Today seems like a lovely day to visit a national park!” 😂 She came damn close, but #165 lived to hide another day.

Then Alex and Nichole rolled into town. A little searching, a little poking around and BINGO — #165 HAS FALLEN! 🪙 And yes, apparently Alex still has the freaking hammer. 🔨😂 At this point, I think it’s officially part of his riding gear. Helmet? Check. Gloves? Check. Rain gear? Check. Treasure-extraction hammer? ABSOLUTELY.

But here’s the part that makes me laugh…

Acadia has been plundered!

OR HAS IT? 😈🏴‍☠️

Because #165 wasn’t the only treasure I planted in Acadia. I planted THREE more coins along Park Loop Road. ROFL! 😂😂😂

So while Alex and Nichole can proudly ride away with #165, somewhere along that beautiful loop three more little pieces of MarkyMark treasure are still sitting there quietly watching thousands of people ride, drive and walk right past them.

Those 3 are waiting for future hunters. 😎🪙

Great job, Alex and Nichole! Another coin recovered, another great story for the ride home, and another reminder that sometimes the best part of exploring isn’t just where the road takes you…it’s wondering what some lunatic on a motorcycle may have hidden there before you arrived. 😂🏍️

So yes…ACADIA HAS BEEN PLUNDERED! Well…About one-third plundered. 🤣🏴‍☠️🪙🪙🪙
