REVIEW: ADVANBLACK CARBON FIBER CHIN SPOILER

Every Upgrade Should Earn Its Place

After nearly 30,000 miles (and counting) of riding this year, including preparation for and participation in the Hoka Hey, IBA, SCMA rides I’ve learned that every modification should do more than just look good. It needs to serve a purpose, and this is why we prep and test. The Advanblack Carbon Fiber Chin Spoiler checks both boxes here.

Lets get into it!

Right out of the box, the quality was apparent. The product arrived well-protected, the finish was excellent, and the color-matched carbon fiber paired perfectly with the rest of the trim on my Road Glide. The lines are clean, sleek, and give the bike a more finished, aggressive look without appearing overdone.

As for installation? Let’s just say the hardest part was finding somewhere to sit down in my garage. The instructions were clear, but honestly, this is about as straightforward as motorcycle upgrades get. The install takes only a few minutes and requires very little effort. If you’re looking for an easy garage project with immediate visual impact, this one is hard to beat.

What I appreciate most is that the design isn’t purely cosmetic. The integrated vent openings help direct airflow, while the lower portion of the spoiler extends farther than the Harley-Davidson OEM version. That additional coverage helps protect components such as the water pump, cooling fan, wiring, and hoses that are otherwise exposed to road debris, gravel, and whatever else gets launched off the pavement during everyday riding.

In that regard, I believe it’s actually a functional improvement over the OEM chin spoiler.

That said, there is one consideration worth mentioning. If you’re already running a skid plate, particularly a heavy-duty metal skid plate like I use for long-distance endurance riding, this chin spoiler will not fit. The spoiler is designed to slide into position and secure using the factory mounting grommet points, but also extends alittle below where it will interfere with an after market skid plate.

This isn’t a flaw. It’s simply a compatibility detail that riders should be aware.

For my own use, I chose not to run this Advanblack chin spoiler during my endurance races. With thousands of miles and challenging road conditions, and a premium placed on mechanical reliability, I opted to keep my metal skid plate installed and continue using the OEM chin spoiler due to more under carriage coverage. On endurance events, every equipment choice becomes a balance between appearance, protection, functionality, and risk management. That’s not a knock on the Advanblack product. It’s simply the reality of preparing a motorcycle for extreme-distance competition.

For the vast majority of riders, this won’t even be a consideration.

After thousands of miles of evaluating what works and what doesn’t, I can confidently say the Advanblack Carbon Fiber Chin Spoiler is a solid upgrade. The fit and finish are excellent, the styling integrates seamlessly with any bike, and the added coverage provides better protection than the OEM piece.

Not every motorcycle upgrade needs to be complicated. Sometimes the best ones improve both form and function in a package that’s easy to install and built to last. The Advanblack Carbon Fiber Chin Spoiler does exactly that and for most riders, it’s a noticeable step up from stock!
